Blog #2 Jax

Our week is now finished at UNF and we spent the last two days in the lab taking a close look at all of our data from the boat trip and the 24 hour sampling at GTMNERR. We also had a chance to view the facilities on campus for the graduate research currently being conducted.
In the lab we had the opportunity to look at our samples from St. John's River and identify many different phytoplankton and zooplankton.  The samples were then poured through filters in order to determine the color of the water with the colorimeter.
After obtaining all of the data and graphing out in excel we had a discussion about the trends relating to location and time at each of the locations above and below the dam at GMTNERR.  We noticed that there were more mosquito fish and more white mullet below the dam.  Also we got larger samples during the lowest low tide samples below the dam with many grass and peneid shrimp at night especially.   It was a great week at UNF.  Everyone worked so well together obtaining all of the data and interpreting as a group.
